President's Message

On behalf of all the volunteers who make the Gilroy Garlic Festival possible, let me thank you for your continued support. Your patronage is what has allowed us to give away over $9.3 million. Last year 180 non-profit organizations received funding from the Gilroy Garlic Festival.

This year we have made a couple of changes that I hope you have an opportunity to enjoy. We have upgraded the shade over the Vineyard Stage to relax under while listening to some great talent that is brought to you by the Gilroy Garlic Festival Entertainment Committee. The Cook-off Stage will continue to have their line up of Celebrity Chefs, Cook-off Contest and top notch cooking demonstrations; please don’t miss the action there all 3 days. Be sure to catch the Pyro Chefs entertaining the crowds doing their Calamari flame-ups in Gourmet Alley, the premier food venue of the Garlic Festival.

Keep an eye out for the Garlic Festival Queen and her court, as they work their way through the crowds. Watch for “Mr. Garlic”, he will be working the crowds and creating those memorable moments that you will want to capture with you and your family.

We are again maintaining our commitment to buy from local farmers. We believe one of the best ways to be a responsible organization is to be “green and sustainable”. All food vendors are being asked to utilize compostable plates, bowls and utensils. This is a goal that the Board of Directors set for us 3 years ago. This is our continuing goal for the future. We constantly strive to make improvements to keep the Gilroy Garlic Festival summertime’s premier food festival.

Hugh Davis, 2012 Festival President
